Volkswagen–e-Up

Winter 2013

The Up range gains another member late in 2013 with the all-electric Volkswagen e-Up. It’s identical in size to the standard three-door Up and the battery pack and electric motor do not impinge on boot or cabin space. However, the do add around 200kg to the overall weight of the Up.

VW says the e-Up will have a range of more than 90 miles per charge and it comes with charging sockets for a normal domestic plug and quick charger. Use the full power of the 80bhp electric motor and the e-Up will cover 0-62mph in around 14.0 seconds and has a top speed limited to 80mph.

There’s no confirmation from VW on price, but it says it will be very competitive against the likes of the Mitsubishi i-MIEV.
