MG is targeting the premium car market with the unveiling of two new electric models - the IM5 executive saloon and the IM6 mid-size SUV.

With the IM5 and IM6, MG is positioning itself as a serious contender in the premium EV market, combining value-driven pricing with cutting-edge technology and luxury features more commonly seen from established German and US brands.

Targeting rivals such as the BMW i4 and Tesla Model Y, the IM5 and IM6 are positioned to offer advanced tech, long-range capabilities and luxury-level features to MG’s growing customer base. Prices start from £39,495 for the IM5 and £47,995 for the IM6.

With the IM5 and IM6, MG is positioning itself as a serious contender in the premium EV market, combining value-driven pricing with cutting-edge technology and luxury features more commonly seen from established German and US brands.

Targeting rivals such as the BMW i4 and Tesla Model Y, the IM5 and IM6 are positioned to offer advanced tech, long-range capabilities and luxury-level features to MG’s growing customer base. Prices start from £39,495 for the IM5 and £47,995 for the IM6.

The IM5 saloon will be offered in multiple variants, including Standard Range, Long Range, and a high-performance dual-motor version:

  • Standard Range: 75kWh battery, 295PS motor, up to 304 miles (WLTP).
  • Long Range: 100kWh battery, 407PS motor, up to 441 miles.
  • Performance: 100kWh battery, 751PS dual-motor setup, 357-mile range.

The larger battery supports 800-volt ultra-fast charging, enabling a 10% to 80% top-up in just 17 minutes.

Inside, the IM5 features a 26-inch wraparound display stretching across the dashboard, complemented by a secondary touchscreen on the centre console.

Standard features include heated and ventilated seats, keyless entry, four-wheel steering, adaptive cruise control, 360-degree cameras, and automated parking.

The IM6 SUV shares its platform and tech with the IM5 and will be available in Long Range and Performance versions, plus a Launch Edition based on the latter.

  • IM6 Long Range: 388 miles of range (WLTP).
  • IM6 Performance: 313 miles of range.

Like the IM5, the IM6 offers high-end equipment as standard, including the panoramic dual-display setup, advanced driver assistance systems, and luxury interior touches across all trims.

Customer deliveries are expected to begin later this year.
