A gang of more than a dozen car thieves have carried out a late night raid on an independent used car dealer in Sheffield – making off with 14 vehicles worth around £120,000.

Emil Berek, the boss of Deepcar Motor Company, on Manchester Road, Deepcar, Sheffield, has told newspapers and television crews how he walked into his dealership after the overnight raid in the early hours of Saturday (October 30) morning and found the majority of his stock gone.

Speaking to ITV News, Berek said: “I still don’t think I have gotten over the shock.

“I’ve been in the trade for 30 years and we have had the odd car stolen, but to walk into the showroom and see the majority of your stock gone is something else.”

Thieves stole a total of 14 cars worth £120,000.

Among the stolen vehicles was a white Audi A1, a white Audi A5, a rare BMW 5-series which was heavily modified with a body kit and tinted windows and was white.

A white Citroen DS3, a blue Ford Kuga, a grey-silver Ford S-Max, a gold Jaguar XF, a blue-silver Range Rover Sport, a black Mercedes CLS, a black Mercedes E Class, a black Mercedes S Class, a cream Mini One and a black Seat Exeo were also taken.

Berek said: “They must have bussed the thieves here because there must have been at least 14 people involved in this.”

Berek told the Sheffield Star newspaper that business’s CCTV system was not working at the time of the raid and neighbouring residents did not hear anything untoward.

However, he has been able to claim on his insurance policy.

Despite being able to make the claim, the business owner said that vehicle preparation and transportation costs would mean that he was left around £20,000 out of pocket.
