JOB TITLE: Car & Van Mechanic
LOCATION: Teesport
TEXO Recruitment are delighted to be supporting our client, a respected operator within the UK logistics and infrastructure sector, in the recruitment of a Car & Van Mechanic, based at Teesport on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking engineering team within a nationally recognised business committed to operational excellence, safety, and employee development.
Job Purpose:
As a Fleet Tradesperson, you’ll be responsible for the service, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of a range of fleet assets, including:
*
Electric and diesel cars and light commercial vans
*
Electric and diesel UTVs (Utility Task Vehicles)
*
Diesel Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs) – training will be provided if required
Working both in the workshop and on-site as needed, you’ll respond to vehicle breakdowns, carry out preventative maintenance, and ensure assets are maintained to the highest operational and safety standards. Knowledge of EV systems is advantageous; however, training will be provided where applicable.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
*
Minimum 5 years’ experience in the car, van, or light commercial vehicle sector post-apprenticeship
*
Excellent mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
*
Strong understanding of diagnostic systems and vehicle components
*
Ability to plan workload and support/supervise others
*
High attention to detail and commitment to safety standards
*
Clear and confident communication skills
*
Experience in a logistics, industrial, or port environment – desirable
*
Analytical mindset to interpret repair data and performance history
Responsibilities:
*
Diagnose faults using tools and technical knowledge
*
Carry out repairs and component replacements across vehicle systems
*
Complete routine servicing, fluid checks, tyre replacements and wheel alignments
*
Maintain and repair vehicle air conditioning and heating systems
*
Work safely with high-voltage systems in EVs (training available)
*
Respond quickly to on-site breakdowns to minimise downtime
*
Ensure compliance with all health and safety guidance, including HAVS
*
Support workshop efficiency and maintain strong housekeeping standards
*
Accurately complete job sheets and service records
*
Supervise external contractors when required
