Lead Engineer Dynamics Large Car Platform
Job Purpose:
Lead the Vehicle dynamics Performances on Large Car Platform development (ride, handling, steering and braking systems).
Your Key Responsibilities & Tasks will be:
Target setting:
Responsible to set Vehicle Subjective target (L1 target) to achieve customer profile of the product in function of internal and external benchmarking
Responsible to set up Objective target (L2 target) to deploy subjective parameters in vehicle objective parameters can help to develop Chassis systems according with the Department internal process
System requirements:Support the other area of the department to deploy a systems specification for every system can impact Vehicle Dynamics
Vehicle Dynamics Development and testing
Vehicle Validation and sign-off
Plan engineering activities within dynamics functions and also engage with other functional and attribute areas as required.
Hands on technical delivery of projects to achieve targets of performance, cost, quality and time.
Generation of formal reports and evidence packs to meet customer's demands
Develop specific test procedures and processes as required
Management and organisation of offsite test activities.
Integrating within Supplier vehicle dynamics teams during tuning and development phases.
Frequent international travel to clients the primary objective of this role is to maintain the class leading reputation of the vehicle dynamics department.The candidate should be able to enhance this reputation by providing experience and development knowledge of active technologies such as Air springs, Active Damping, rear steer etc and have the ability to mentor the junior members of the team and advance their capabilities
Qualifications & Experience:
Understanding of Vehicle Dynamics (VeD) and Active Chassis components.
Very strong vehicle dynamic subjective assessment skills and vehicle and on a Driving Simulator
Extensive experience of developing vehicle dynamics performance including, airspring development, damper tuning (including Electronic Variable), tyre development, EPAS development, electronic stability systems development and kinematics and compliance with a good knowledge and understanding of K&C data.
In depth knowledge of vehicle dynamics development supported by a thorough theoretical understanding of vehicle dynamics
Strong Objective testing experience
Hands on experience of tuning passive dampers, developing active damper and EPAS systems
Practical experience of vehicle dynamics development of multiple vehicle projects including high performance vehicles.
• Experience of European vehicle dynamics test facilities including Nardo, Nurburgring, IDIADA and low Mu facilities
• Strong understanding of vehicle attributes for a wide range of diverse vehicle types
• Proven ability to carry out road vehicle development through highly skilled driving ability, with experience training others in dynamics development and driving techniques. There will be a need to travel internationally with this role, visiting test facilities and client sites to provide the best support for our customers. This role can be based from Silverstone/Gaydon, with travel required on a global scale.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of embedded control systems.
Experience using simulation and analysis techniques for vehicle and component(s).
Strong time management, accuracy, diligence, ability to balance and prioritise multiple tasks.
Positive attitude, resolute and high drive for results.
