WORKSHOP CONTROLLER

Main purpose of the job

To oversee the Workshop and MOT bay.

To ensure the workshop provides the best possible service to the customers and achieves agreed profits and retention levels.

To organise, direct and control the activities of Workshop Staff to achieve plans and budgets, ensuring optimum use of all material, financial and personnel resources.

To contribute to the development of all operating and administrative policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of tasks smoothly and in a timely manner.

Main tasks and responsibilities: -

To liaise with customers, having the ability to quote repair times and required necessary replacement parts.

To instruct Technicians concerning repair procedures.

To approve work order and ensure times allotted are not exceeded and that additional work is recorded accurately.

To be responsible for Technician training and supervision.

Use the diagnostic systems in order to seek technical advice as necessary.

Undertake the invoicing and customer payments.

Establish and maintain the organisation and staffing levels for the workshop.

Ensure that the workshop offers the highest level of service to customers by continuously monitoring customer satisfaction.

To ensure that Technicians are conversant with rules and safety matters and maintain discipline.

To test drive vehicles after completion of work, to monitor quality control.

To be responsible for general order in the workshop and ensure that tools, special tools, equipment and Workshop literature are complete and up to date.

To operate within and adhere to the Company’s Health and Safety Policy aspects of the role.

To adhere to the processes and procedures laid down by the Company to ensure that all work is completed to the highest quality standards at all times.

Qualifications and Experience required

City & Guilds or equivalent NVQ qualification in Motor Mechanics

Motor vehicle mechanical knowledge
