Mitsubishi importers across Europe have been told that they will not be amalgamated into the DaimlerChrysler operation.

However, DaimlerChrysler, which acquired a 34% stake in Mitsubishi last month, is likely to share dealerships, especially in the UK where a recruitment drive is expected to be launched in summer.

The importer has undergone extensive restructuring after board member Denis Murphy (left) was appointed temporary UK chief executive. He will be replaced by former Mazda European marketing director Jim Tyrrell on May 22.
