Lex Autosales has poached marketing director Alistair Welham from leading rival Concept.

Mr Welham was instrumental in rebranding Concept's used car superstores with the CarLand name. His immediate objectives will include developing “consumer delight, European pricing and e-purchasing”.

Mr Welham believes the eight-outlet Autosales group has a “significant opportunity” to win used car market share because customer expectations were “particularly low”. He added: “Car supermarkets are key to the future of motor retailing – it's a sector which needs bringing up to date.”
