Vauxhall's used car programme Network Q has teamed up with First Indemnity Insurance Management to offer low-cost insurance on selected Corsas, Astras, Tigras and Vectras.

A spokesman said dealers would select the models, not Vauxhall, but he denied they would only use the scheme to sell surplus and slower selling vehicles. We expect retailers to offer the scheme on a wide range of stock,” he said.

Martin Brown, Network Q brand manager, added: “Many motorists, especially those in their twenties, are worried about the cost of insurance. This latest Network Q offer will go a long way towards helping reduce the cost of motoring for a wide range of owners.”

The scheme runs until September 30, though the spokesman said there was “a chance” it would be extended. The fully comprehensive cover is for 12 months' private use. Business drivers can upgrade their policy for £100.

Additional named drivers can be added to the cover at a cost of £50 per driver. Owners who wish to renew their policy after 12 months will be offered competitive terms, including a no-claims discount of 60%, if applicable.
