BCA has linked with Vauxhall to stage its first Live On Line auction outside the US.

The sale, staged last month at the Blackbushe centre in Camberley, Surrey, combined live video and audio technology enabling dealers to compete over the internet with buyers in the auction hall.

BCA plans a series of pilot auction events in the UK using the Live On Line system, which is provided by Auction Management Solutions.

Keith Rogers, BCA director of manufacturer sales, said: "The combination of physical auction bidding and remote online buyers led to a competitive and exciting atmosphere for this sale. With a number of vehicles selling to internet buyers and strong underbidding from remote bidders on many of the cars on offer this has been an undoubted success."

Eleven Vauxhall dealers placed bids over the internet - purchasing 12 of the 203 cars on offer - competing with 66 buyers in the auction hall.
