Former Quicks chief executive (and later deputy chairman) Alec Murray has joined Caledonia as a non-executive director.

Mr Murray turned round Quicks, a loss-maker when he joined in 1991. His successor, Richard Barber, resigned shortly before this month's results announcement.

Paul Batty, Caledonia chief executive, said: “Alec's experience will be valuable as we build the group. We have come through one of the worst times for the motor trade and now we're going like a train.”

Joe Conlin, former Serck Partco operations director, has joined Caledonia as aftersales director. Bryn Jones, who previously ran the Leasing Options contract hire company, has been appointed Caledonia's fleet director.
