Proton has launched a new initiative to help its dealers maximise the potential of sub-prime finance business, developed by John Hayes, managing director of Proton Finance.

Onestop-Autofinance is designed to place any deal that has been rejected by the dealer's usual finance company. After analysing the customer profile, a finance company most likely to accept the deal is selected from a panel of direct lenders, enabling the dealer to sell the car and earn the finance commission.

Although the scheme is designed to help Proton dealers, Mr Hayes hopes that multi-franchise dealers in the Proton network will also use it for their other finance company rejections.

Onestop-Autofinance covers vehicles up to six years old.

Mr Hayes said: “How many times has a dealer lost a deal because they can't place the finance? And how much time is wasted sending details of rejected cases to any number of other finance houses in the hope one will accept.?

“Onestop-Autofinance uses underwriting expertise to place rejections into one of three sub-prime customer types and then works with individual dealers to maximise every opportunity.”
