In a mountain to Mohammed move, Atlas Copco has gone on the road with a new range of automotive compressors.

By the end of the month more than 500 dealerships and independent garages will have been shown three receiver-mounted GX compressors housed in a purpose-designed exhibition truck.

The smallest model, the GX2, delivers 10.2 cfm at 7.5 bar with a noise level of 62 dB(A). At the top of the scale the GX22 produces 131.2 cfm at 7.5 bar. Ten bar and 13 bar variants are also available.

Each is offered in Pack and Full Feature format, the latter incorporating a refrigerant dryer, filters, after-cooler and three-stage oil separator.

Keith Barron, Atlas Copco's sales manager, said a key benefit of the GX design was size - they're ideal for small premises and for installations where the compressor is placed directly in the workshop.

“We received a lot of interest in the GXs in the first stage of the tour,” he said.
