Automech acquires Lumley Auto

Vehicle finance broker Automech has acquired Lumley Auto, the insurance and warranty provider.

It's the second purchase – after FI Online – for Automech, which was formed this year by managing director John Gilbert, ex-RAC Warranty, and Bill Meadowcroft, formerly of Ford and BMW GB, who also ran Vauxhall's Network Q.

“Lumley Auto brings with it long standing relationships with major underwriters, which is a significant advantage and key part of the acquisition,” says Gilbert.

Lumley specialises in warranty, GAP and car insurance through its Driveasy and Bluecar brands. It also sells client-branded products. “We intend to develop and grow the business by taking the company into new distribution channels. Lumley Auto will be launching new, unique and innovative products to a wider range of clients,” adds Gilbert.
