Honda expects its Civic to be the best-selling British-built compact car this year.

For the first time in its history, Honda (UK) will top 80,000 car sales this year, about three times its volume of a decade ago. Sales growth in Britain has been matched by record production at the Swindon car plant. This year's output of more than 190,000 cars (comprising around 70,000 Civics and 120,000 CR-Vs) will be an all-time high, elevating Swindon to fourth place among the UK's manufacturers.

Of this total production, approximately 50,000 cars will have been sold in the UK, leaving around 140,000 (or 74%) for export. Some 60,000 will have been exported to mainland Europe with the remaining 80,000 dispatched to North America and Japan.
