Toyota GB is celebrating a record September sales month with 22,333 sales and a market share of 5.18%, beating the previous record of 22,309 vehicles set in March.

The achievement is an increase over September last year of 1,406 vehicles (6.7%) and indicates that Toyota is on target for its 12th consecutive year of sales growth in the UK.

The success for Toyota was largely attributed to continuing success of the Yaris which exceeded its target by 30%, followed by the Prius (24%), the Land Cruiser (17%) and RAV4 (10%).

Another record for Toyota in the UK was its highest ever quarter year share of the market of 5.02% with a new record set by Lexus which exceeded targets by 20% thanks to strong demand for the RX300 and IS models. The total sales figure including Lexus and LCVs reached 25,340 vehicles. The success was not only from new car sales but aftersales too, with parts and accessories totalling £95.4m this year to date.

Toyota has recently revised its 2004 European sales target to over 900,000 units and plans to sell 1.2m vehicles in Europe by 2010.
