Poole Audi is to plough its profits into moving its bodyshop to a standalone 1.5-acre site. The retailer, which posted turnover up from £14.4m to £20.1m in 2003, says it recorded a “substantial” profits increase.

“Our policy is to look to the medium and long-term investment – not the quick buck,” says managing director David Kelly.

The new bodyshop, due to open in July, will be authorised to repair all VW Group brands, aluminium cars and light commercials. It will also double as a new/used car preparation centre, enabling Poole Audi to redevelop its Audi showroom in the autumn, doubling floor space.

“We will use the preparation centre to prepare used cars that can be traded to other Audi Centres,” says Kelly. “It will also enable us to retail Audis aged between four and seven years.”

He expects to boost turnover to “£25m-£27m” this year on new car sales up a third to 650 and used up from 302 to 450.
