The RAC has reissued its brand guidelines in a move that will pre-empt a crackdown on misrepresentation by retailers.

More than 2,500 dealerships sell vehicles with an RAC inspection or warranty. The RAC is now equipping its warranty teams with digital cameras to enable them to record examples of misuse – especially where a dealer no longer has a relationship with the RAC but is still displaying signage.

Jackie Smith, brand licensing manager for RAC Business Solutions, says: “Dealers’ sales increase the moment they display our brand, so we have to make sure it is being shown correctly by dealers that live up to our values. We take it seriously when we find our brand is used inappropriately.”
