Commenting on the move, Robert Bonser, divisional manager responsible for the branch, says: “Volvo wanted a larger presence in the Burton-on-Trent area, and so did we, in line with the increased volume of cars and the new model mix that Volvo has with XC90 and new S40 and V50 models. Burton has always been an important place for us as a group, and we now have a better location on a main road. We are also very close to the A38, which has helped. We have seen increased traffic and throughput since the opening, and aftersales has been busy as well.”
The business is run day-to-day by general sales manager Mark White. Speeds has nine Volvo dealerships in total, including two others in the Derbyshire region, plus sites in Nottingham, West Bridgford, Mansfield, Stoke, Stafford and Crewe. It also has three ChryslerJeep outlets, in Derby, Nottingham and Chesterfield, and Hyundai in Nottingham.
Speeds is building two further dealerships to the Volvo corporate design at Stafford and Mansfield, taking the network to 11.
