Chrysler dealers in the UK will start official imports of the Dodge Ram pick-up truck in October, priced from £25,995.

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab and Dodge Ram 5.7-litre 4x4 Laramie 1500 Quad Cab will be available from all Chrysler Jeep dealers in the UK in left-hand drive. The Laramie is priced at £25,995 (CVOTR before VAT) and the SRT-10 is £37,995 (CVOTR before VAT).

Simon Elliott, managing director of Chrysler Group UK, said: "There is a big market for classic American trucks in the UK, but up until now, a grey import has been the only way to get your hands on one.”

Buying an officially imported Dodge Ram through a Chrysler dealer means customers are covered by a three year/60,000 mile warranty and access to dealer servicing. Customers will also get a Thatcham Category 1 alarm system and a quality single vehicle approval (SVA) conversion to make sure they are fully road legal.

"As we get our vehicles direct from the factory our dealers will also undercut the current importers - the Dodge Ram SRT-10 will be around £4,000 less than our competitors," says Elliot.

The Dodge Ram SRT-10 features the 8.3-litre V10 engine from the Dodge SRT-10 supercar. It produces 500bhp and 525 lb-ft of torque, topping 150 mph and reaching 60mph in just over 5 seconds. UK-spec cars will feature a full-length truck bed tonneau cover, 22-inch alloy wheels, leather heated seats, side airbags and a rear window defroster.

The 5.7-litre 4x4 Laramie variant will feature side airbags, leather heated seats, 17-inch aluminium wheels and a rear window defroster. An optional full-length bed liner and 20-inch wheels are available.

50 vehicles will be available through all Chrysler UK dealers from October.
