Jaguar has introduced an armoured version of its XJ long wheelbase saloon, the company’s first ever armoured passenger vehicle.

Prices start from £199,000 on-the-road for the model, which Jaguar says can withstand gun shots and blast attack, robbery, kidnap and car jacking.

From the exterior the armoured XJ is virtually identical to the standard car except for additional features like bullet-resistant laminated glazing, underbody protection, steel-armouring and run flat tyres. The car’s chassis has also been given an overhaul with reinforced springs and dampers.

It is on sale now.
