Richard Lawson Auto Logistics, the Dundee-based transport company that went into receivership last September, has been bought by Autocare Group for an undisclosed sum. The new owner plans to grow the fleet management side of the business.

Lawson’s managing director, Colin Johnson, and finance director Sandy Fyfe will both transfer to the new company. Fresh appointments will be made as part of the expansion programme. The business’ failure was blamed on a weak UK inland transportation market.

David Horton of Grafton Associates, which advised Autocare Group on the acquisition, says: “The new owner anticipates a period of stabilisation on the transport and distribution side while the fleet management business will embark on a strategy of aggressive growth.”
