DuPont and BP have announced the creation of a partnership to bring to the market a next generation of biofuels in an effort to meet the increasing global demand for renewable transportation fuels.

This partnership comes after three years collaboration between the two companies. Their goal is to deliver advanced biofuels that will provide improved options for expanding energy supplies and accelerate the move to renewable transportation fuels, which lower overall greenhouse gas emissions.

The first biofuel product created from the partnership is a petrol bio-component which will be commercialised as biobutanol. It is scheduled for launch in the UK in 2007.
