The contract, one of the largest won by Kwik-Fit Fleet, will see mobile technicians undertake quarterly tyre wear and tear checks on all vehicles, to assist British Gas comply with its at-work driving duty of care responsibilities.
The new contract, which runs to the end of 2009, builds on an initial 12-month solus deal won last year when Kwik-Fit Fleet took over responsibility for tyre authorisation and management on the British Gas liveried fleet following the closure of AA Tyrefit.
British Gas general manager fleet Colin Marriott said: “Our customer-focused operation means that there is little time for vehicles to be off the road. Consequently, we expect the majority of vehicles to be serviced by Kwik-Fit Fleet’s mobile technicians to ensure downtime is kept to an absolute minimum.
“It is also vital that we meet all our at-work driving health and safety obligations and the unique tyre inspection service that Kwik-Fit is providing will help achieve that aim.”
