Name: Brian Jameson
Company: Honda UK
Job: Corporate aftersales manager
Age: 59

How did you get in to the automotive business?
I started off at Allens of Romford as an apprentice technician.

What does your job entail?
I deal with leasing companies, large corporate clients, and SMR costs and other aftersales issues.

How will your job change over the next few years?
It will become more intense because Honda is increasing its share in the corporate market. This means costings issues will become more acute.

Other jobs?
Apprentice technician at Allens, where I moved on to be a workshop foreman, workshop controller and reception worker. Then assistant service manager at the Perry Group followed by my first move to Honda where I’ve been an area service manager, field engineer, aftersales manager and training manager.

What advice would you give to people planning to join the industry?
Learn the basics because that is one of the areas where the industry often falls down.

What’s the worst career move you’ve ever made?
I did a week at a DAF dealer.

And the best?
The move to Honda.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
Retired!
