TRW Automotive has cut 128 jobs at its brake factory in Pontypool, South Wales.

The US company’s UK subsidiary employs 500 people at he Welsh plant. There are 103 manufacturing jobs, and 25 support roles facing voluntary and compulsory redundancy.

The job losses are to follow the end of a contract next February to supply brake components for Toyota’s Corolla, which accounts for approximately a quarter of the plant’s output.

TRW Automotive confirmed in August last year that 156 of 638 jobs would be cut over the following year.
