Skoda has revealed the first picture of its new Fabia mode, which will go on sale in the UK in May.

The new model takes a lot of design cues from Skoda’s Roomster model. It’s bigger than the old model, 22mm longer and 47mm taller to be precise.

A total of seven engines will be available at launch – four petrol and three diesel.

Skoda has added front side airbags as standard, as well as dual front airbags on the new Fabia.

For the first time a six-speed automatic Tiptronic transmission is being made available as an option, while electronically controlled Climatronic air conditioning and an MP3/iPod compatible stereo also make their way onto the options list.

Full UK specification details will be made available closer to the Fabia’s UK launch date in May.

Estate versions of the new car are due to come to the UK in January 2008. Until then production of current models will continue.
