Tom Madden is to retire as director of customer affairs at BCA after more than 30 years with the company.

The company says it has worked with Madden to implement a long-standing succession plan whereby instead of appointing a direct replacement, several board directors will assume parts of his role, when he retires in July.

“Tom has been a great ambassador for BCA and the vehicle remarketing industry as a whole, and his contribution has been significant,” says John Olsen, chief executive officer of BCA.

As a member of BCA’s management team, Madden has focused on customer relations and worked hard in promoting the benefits of vehicle remarketing to every sector of the motor industry. He is also a strong advocater of diesel power in the UK’s fleets.

Madden remains chairman of the Institute of Car Fleet Management until the end of 2006, a position he has held since 1996, and is a Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry.
