Mezzanine floor controls

New legislation introducing controls on the use of mezzanine floor space came into effect on May 10.

Increases in floor space of 200sq m (2,152sq ft) or more now require permission from the local planning authority.

AM first reported on April 22, 2005, that the Government was intending to restrict retailers from using large mezzanine levels to increase their floor space without planning permission.
