Name: Joseph Yussuf
Company: Mr Clutch
Autocentres: Age 53
Job: Chairman and CEO

How did you get in to the automotive business?
I was a panel-beater until, at 22, I set up a bodyshop repair business in a railway arch in Bow, London. This evolved into the first Mr Clutch Autocentre.

What does your job entail?
Responsibility for Mr Clutch Autocentres Limited, Mr Clutch Franchising Limited and CIS (London) Limited, and holding company CI Holdings Limited.

How will your job change over the next few years?
We have piloted a new Supercentre concept. This has led the way to rapid growth and expansion of our franchise and company owned network.

Other jobs?
I had 23 casual jobs before becoming self employed at 22.

What advice would you give to young people joining the industry?
Remember to work on your personal development.

What’s the worst career move you’ve ever made?
I found a property for sale for £80,000. Against my better judgment, I was convinced not to proceed with the purchase. It is now worth £3.5m.
And the best?
Starting my own business.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years’ time?
Still be involved in the business.
