Renault is to take over Irish distribution of its vehicles from Glencullen Group on November 1.

Glencullen has agreed to be taken over by Renault after importing its cars for 21 years.

The newly titled Renault Ireland will become a subsidiary of the Renault Group for the distribution of its vehicles and spare-parts, and the provision of after sales services in Ireland.

Bill Cullen, chairman of Glencullen, will continue to sell the Renault range through his six Renault dealerships run by his other company, CityGate Motor Group.

Cullen said: “We have the opportunity to take Renault to at least a 9% market share. I will be delighted to put the full force of our CityGate sites into achieving that objective.”
