Inchcape has signed a deal to standardise the operating software for all its dealerships globally.

The agreement with global business systems provider SAP will allow IT and best practices to be applied to all motor retail and distribution sites in the 26 countries where Inchcape operates.

A spokesman said it will streamline the business process for staff, and allow them to concentrate on selling and serving customers rather than be weighed down by paperwork.

Senior management will be assisted in decision-making through its production of key management data.

Andre Lacroix, Inchcape chief executive, said: “It will strengthen our existing businesses around the world through greater productivity and freeing up our people to spend more time with customers. It will also be a platform for the fast and efficient integration of new businesses.”
