Ford Retail, the retail group wholly owned by Ford Motor Company, has acquired Hartwell Ford in Huddersfield for an undisclosed sum.

This expands the number of outlets it operates under its Polar Ford brand in Yorkshire and the north east to 14.

Ford Retail also trades under the Dagenham Motors name in London and the south east, Heartlands Ford in Birmingham and Brunel Ford in Bristol and the south west. The purchase follows recent restructuring in order to focus on the UK market.

Chris Hayden, chairman and CEO of Ford Retail, said: “The purchase of the Hartwell Ford dealership provides a good geographic fit that strengthens our presence in the north of the country.”

The dealership employs 71 staff in new and used car sales, commercial vehicle sales, servicing, body shop and parts.
