The first batch of 42 MG TFs have come off the production lines at the Midland's plant. These are prototype cars, largely hand built to verify that the suppliers and new parts are up to quality standards and to test the supplier chain, more than anything. Full blown production is scheduled to start by April/May time.
On Thursday NAC’s Stephen Cox, responsible for sales and franchising in the UK and EU, and Paul Stowe, quality director in China, will take part in a web broadcast on the enthusiasts' website www.mg-rover.org.
Cox said: “With only a few months to go until car assembly recommences at Longbridge and the opening of our new production facilities in China, there’s never been a better time to be an MG enthusiast. Whilst for obvious commercial reasons we cannot discuss in great detail forthcoming new product plans, Paul and I will be delighted to take questions across a range of areas, including the construction status of our plants in the United Kingdom and China, our partnerships, product validation, reliability and durability information and of course, NAC’s timetable for 2007.”
Appearing largely the same as the model which ceased production in April 05, the changes to the MG TF appear minimal at the moment. They do, however, use the Chinese built 'N' series engines which are basically Euro IV emission compliant versions of the Rover K Series.
