A new training group has been launched this week, in order to ‘transform the automotive industry with its skills training for any sizes of business’.

The Motor Industry Skills Consortium (MISC) was launched at Jaguar Cars, Castle Bromwich and currently manages over £100 million of apprenticeship training, with approximately 3,000 apprentices nationwide.

MISC said it will provide regional training centres featuring £50m of training facilities and trainers equipped with ‘unrivalled breadth and depth of experience’.

Bernard Priest, chair of the consortium steering group, said: “The aim of MISC is to provide a national standard of excellence in all aspects of automotive training, from apprentice training and industry updating to ATA mechanical and body assessments and management and soft skills training.

“The 14 member colleges within the Consortium are strategically located to provide the automotive industry with high quality training at an affordable price throughout all regions of the UK.”
