Colt Cars Mid-West has begun work on its £4m Cheltenham and Gloucester dealership, which will bring the group’s total number of sites to 10.

Work on the 1.2-acre site, which is located on Cheltenham Road East at Gloucestershire Airport, began in mid-February and is due for completion in August.

Curley Construction, a Rugby-based family firm, is responsible for the building works.

Steve Curley, director, says: “Following completion of the groundworks, we’ll have the foundations ready by the middle of March, and the steel frame and cladding finished by the end of May. Fitting and finishing will take place throughout June and July.”

The dealership will hold six new cars, which will be spread out over two storeys. Cost saving, environmentally friendly construction techniques will be located throughout the building. This includes a drive-in, drive-out facility for the six bay fully-tiled workshop, which also houses a Class 4/7 MoT bay.

Rob Ayland, managing director of Colt Cars Mid West, says: “The site is a mirror image of our Weston-Super-Mare dealership. The model there worked so well, when the land at the airport came up we thought it would be a real winner for us.”

The new dealership, which is situated midway between Cheltenham and Gloucester, should be more conveniently located for dealership customers living further west.

This is the third new addition to the manufacturer-owned dealer group, which also has a stand-alone accident repair centre in Cirencester, this year.
