Harvey Baker of Mercedes-Benz CharterWay’s central Scotland dealership Western Commercial has taken the Business Manager of the Year accolade.

Mercedes-Benz CharterWay, the international commercial vehicle, financial services, contact hire and fleet management arm of DaimlerChrysler, recognized its dealerships’ at the recent awards ceremony in Stratford.

Vying for the title were Ian Sutton of SG Smith, who followed in a close second, and Karen Whitfield who took the third place position. Steve Durrant, Mercedes-Benz CharterWay managing director, presented the awards and also announced a special merit award to Mark Lindsay of Western Commercial.

Daimler Chrysler said the award recognises the dealership’s ‘successful sale of Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles and insurance products while also considering the sales team’s and customer feedback.

“Business practises including invoicing and documentation accuracy were also key in determining the overall winner of the award,” added DC.

Durrant commented: “Like other industries, players in the commercial vehicle sector have had to respond to tough marketplace conditions to stay top of their game and we are constantly surprised at how our dealerships have embraced the challenges they find themselves in to ensure we all remain competitive. Baker, the team at Western Commercial and all our dealerships should be congratulated on their efforts over the past 12 months.”

Baker said he accepted the title and prize on behalf of his entire team who were integral in the dealerships’ success.
