John Dwyer, the former police chief campaigning against incorrectly repaired vehicles, is producing a TV documentary to highlight the issue.

Dwyer has teamed with former BBC film maker Reg Sanders and is seeking input from the accident repair industry in order to take the debate to a wider public audience.

Although still in its early stages, the documentary is planned to include a crash test on a vehicle which has been improperly repaired with inappropriate equipment.

Dwyer, former assistance chief constable of Cheshire, has already lobbied the Association of Chief Police Officers to analyse crashed cars for previous repairs.

This came after he learnt that many bodyshops still lack the necessary equipment for repairing ultra high strength steels.
