Peter Vardy has opened its fifth dealership as its expansion continues across Scotland.

The Vauxhall operation in Kirkcaldy is the company’s first new build dealership and has already created around 25 new jobs in the Fife town.

Peter Vardy, chief executive, said: “Together with Vauxhall, who chose us as their partner for expansion in Fife, we believe Kirkcaldy is a fantastic location. As the main motor retail centre of the area, it is already a destination for customers and with our third Vauxhall dealership being on the town’s ‘motor mile’ we see it having huge potential.”

The dealership joins the company’s other Vauxhall operations at Motherwell and Perth and comes less than two months after Peter Vardy acquired its first specialist site, Edinburgh BMW and Mini.

Johnny Kildare has joined the company as managing partner of Kirkcaldy Vauxhall.

Kildare, who is originally from Falkirk, was formerly head of business at Stirling Audi having previously worked for Lancaster Group in Edinburgh and south east England.

He said: “The Peter Vardy philosophy is about bringing premium levels of customer and colleague satisfaction to the volume sector, which is unique in our industry. It’s an exciting challenge and very much the kind of focus that made me keen to join the group.”

He is supported by sales manager David English, Kirkcaldy man Barrie Miller who is service manager, parts manager Jamie Breen, business manager John McGregor and accountant Susan Dunn.

The site next to Asda on the Mitchelston Industrial Estate has been developed to include a 7,000ft showroom for 10 cars from the new Vauxhall range.

An old commercial vehicle workshop has been converted into an aftersales centre with parts department and an 11-ramp service workshop, a further ramp dedicated to MoT testing and a new wash and valet unit.

The dealership will also be a specialist light and heavy Vauxhall van centre with a dedicated outdoor display area for vans and two service bays in the workshop. The team will be hosting an official red carpet opening event from October 4-7.
