Citroen will take the wraps off its C-Cactus concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week.

The new concept is powered by a diesel hybrid model which Citroen claims will return over 80mpg on the combined cycle. It does this by having less weight after drastically cutting the amount of components used for production.

One of the first moves involved the removal of the dashboard, with the original functions and loudspeakers, gearbox controls and navigation system now grouped on the central console.

The concept will join the C4 BioFlex and C5 Airscape to underline the company’s credentials as an environmentally friendly manufacturer.
