General Motors is just ahead of Toyota by 3,000 units in the sales race to be the biggest car manufacturer in the world.

Toyota sold 9.366 million vehicles globally in 2007, where as GM sold 9,369,524 vehicles. GM has now been the world’s top car seller for 77 years.

Toyota will be expanding overseas production and is forecasting growth for 2008 at selling 9.85 million vehicles, up 5% from this year. GM did not give comparable sales forecasts.
