Two of Ford’s non-executive directors have resigned, according to the Sunday Times (October 19th).

Sir John Bond, the chairman of Vodafone (pictured), and Jorma Ollila the chairman of Nokia, left because they “had significant responsibilities within their own companies, and each has recently added new responsibilities in advising Governmental entities during these difficult economic times” according to Ford.

The carmaker said it had no immediate plans to replace them.

The Sunday Times claims the pair’s departure contributes to uncertainty about the future of the three big Detroit carmakers-Ford, GM and Chrysler-in the light of falling sales, high debts and hefty pension and healthcare payments.
