Small scale redundancies have been made at GK Group, the north of England motor retailer.

Spokesman Andrew Kenning said the affected employees were informed around six weeks ago.

He said less than 20 jobs were being cut.

The move was not linked to GK Group, ranked 40 in the AM100, being fined £51,100 for not meeting FSA requirements relating to the sale of payment protection insurance (PPI).

It has 30 dealerships representing Ford, Citroën, Seat, Mazda, Peugeot, Kia and Fiat.

The company is headed by George and David Kenning and former Bristol Street Motors divisional managing director Mark Hamer.
