Production of the Kia Cee’d has reached a milestone, with the 200,000th model leaving the carmaker’s factory in Zilina, Slovakia just 18 months after the facility opened.

In April, the factory achieved a record 915 units produced in a day, 4,474 in a week and 19,300 for the month, and was awarded the TUV’s Design for Environment and Life Cycle Assessment certificates.

Kia has bigger plans for the facility – its sights are set on making the facility the most productive car plant in Europe with production targets of 100 vehicles per year for each of its 2,748 staff.

In addition to the Cee’d family, Kia manufactures the European market Sportage at Zilina, and will add the environmentally friendly Eco-Cee’d to its line up from December.
