HSE have published new guidance on buying and using LEV.

The information will be interesting to all who use such equipment in service/repair outlets.

The guidance initially covers how to select an LEV supplier and how to put together a specification for what you want.

You should request three specific documents from the supplier.

 

  • User manual
  • Log Book
  • Commissioning Report

    Once installed the equipment must be regularly checked and maintained.

    Guidance is given on how this should be carried out and by whom.

    Within every 14 months most LEV systems need a ‘through examination and test’.

    Again there is an expectation of what this entails.

    Training is necessary for all who use and check the system.
