The RAC Breakdown Britain report, its study on the state of the nation's roads, directly attribute a deterioration in the condition and quality of UK roads to an upturn in vehicle breakdowns, and potentially lucrative repairs for dealers.
Of the 620 RAC patrols surveyed, 76% reported an increase in call-outs to damaged tyres, 56% saw a rise in suspension failures, and 51% reported chipped windscreens as more common.
