Cornwall-based Rowes Group is hoping for a £5 million boost in turn-over this year after adding its fifth Honda site, a service and used car operation in Hayle.

The 1.25-acre facility is one of nine Honda service and used car centres in the UK, providing a more convenient service centre for rural residents and supporting Rowes’ new car franchises in Plymouth, Liskeard and Truro.

The former lighting warehouse now houses a four bay workshop with one-man operation MoT lane and vehicle preparation area.

The showroom has space for 25 cars, with another 50 stored outside. It employs six people.

The site has now gone live with MMI’s Automate DMS.Honda signage is expected to arrive within weeks.

Peter Harris, managing director, said: “The site fills in a long and thin area, providing service for people in the south-west. It also allows us to greatly expand into the used car market. That’s our main aim for it.”

Family-owned Rowes has been a Honda dealer since 1980, originally from the Liskeard site.

It acquired Truro in 1984, followed by two sites in Plymouth in 1995 and 2006 and the latest facility in Hayle, which opened in March this year.
