Oxford Brookes University has opened a Sustainable Vehicle Engineering Centre.

It will examine the current and future challenges facing the whole life cycle of motor vehicles, including the sustainability of the industry and its impact on the environment.

The centre has been developed after the university led a project by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Council, DRIVENet, to examine vehicle recycling and the environmental impact of expanding motorisation.

Under the umbrella of DRIVENet, the centre is headed by Professor Allan Hutchinson.
