Suzuki has put off plans to bring its Kizashi saloon to the UK in 2010.

The Insignia-sized car will go into production in Japan this year, but has been put off from entering the UK and mainland Europe markets for the foreseeable future, according to reports.

Instead Suzuki wants to focus Kizashi on its key Russian and US markets.

A Suzuki GB spokesman told AM: “The model has been delayed from its original launch date of spring 2010.

"Suzuki plans to introduce the car in the UK and in Europe further into the future and will decide on an appropriate time to introduce the new model into the D segment. Development of the car for other global markets will continue.

"Suzuki will therefore continue to focus on its core strength; the production of small, economical and low emitting cars and the manufacture of compact off-road vehicles”.
