Car care specialist Autoglym has formed an in-house team to offer sales training and aftersales support for dealers using its products.

The company said sales of its LifeShine car care system, applied by valeters at the dealership, contributed an extra £16.5 million of revenue to dealers in 2008.

With car sales slowing, dealers have become more proactive in selling ancillary products such as car care to boost income and profit, said Autoglym.

Terry Chapman, LifeShine sales manager, said: “In the current challenging market conditions, dealers are looking to maximise profitability from every car sale. Along with finance packages, GAP insurance and factory-fit options, dealer-applied car care systems have significant and proven potential to generate additional profits."
